West wants to ‘sacrifice Ukraine’

(MENAFN)
The West is exploiting Ukraine to wage a broader conflict against Russia, according to Milorad Dodik, president of Republika Srpska, the Serb-majority region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In an interview with RT on Wednesday, Dodik accused the US, UK, Germany, and other Western nations of deliberately provoking a war with Russia, with Ukraine being the primary casualty.

Dodik was recently listed on Ukraine’s controversial Mirotvorets (Peacemaker) website, which has been criticized as a "kill list" after several individuals featured on it were later killed or died under suspicious circumstances.

He argued that Ukraine had made serious errors by marginalizing its Russian-speaking population, including passing laws restricting the Russian language and targeting the Ukrainian Orthodox Church aligned with Moscow. These actions, he claimed, justified Russia’s military response.

“Their political leadership chose confrontation by trying to strip Russians of their linguistic and religious rights,” Dodik said. “Russia had every right to defend its people.”

He dismissed claims that he poses a threat to Ukraine as “slander,” and emphasized that achieving peace should be the priority for Ukrainians.

Dodik’s remarks echo Russia’s position that the conflict stems from Ukraine’s refusal to grant autonomy to the Donetsk and Lugansk republics under the Minsk agreements. Moscow has demanded Ukraine renounce NATO ambitions and accept Russia’s territorial claims over Crimea and the Donbass.

US Senator Marco Rubio has described the conflict as a “proxy war” between the West and Russia, a sentiment echoed by Moscow, which maintains that Western support for Kiev makes NATO countries direct participants in the war.
